He was rescued from the streets of New York 12 years ago. Since then Brinks the Pitbull has not stopped smiling.
The Mail reports that his owner Jon Bozak noticed his pooch’s rare talent the first moment he met him.
He said: “I think I first discovered Brinks could smile the very first day I found him. I’d thrown him in the car and he got into the front seat and just kind of made himself at home. As soon as I saw him smiling at the world passing by my car, it pretty much was a non-decision. The best decision I made.”
Mr Bozak first met Brinks as he left his apartment in New York, and spotted the dog across the street. He said: “Brinks was loose, across the street by the school. He then came trotting over. He was like, ‘Who are these interlopers who are on my street?’ ”.
Over the next two months, Mr Bozak put up numerous ‘found dog’ signs across the city. After having no replies, he decided to make Brinks a permanent member of his own family.
Years later, Brinks is still grinning away with his trademark smile. The creative projects director said: “I don’t think he’s a clown, or walking through life goofily smiling because everything cracks him up, but he does smile as an expression. I thinks it’s a very ‘I’m a friend, trust me’ sort of smile. He does it in reaction to things that you’d think make a dog or a living creature smile; food, getting petted. He also loves to smile when he’s sleeping, which I think is amazing. It’s too cute, he really is pretty special.”
