Three places have ranked among the top ten most pet friendly areas for a UK holiday.

The Argus reports that Hastings, Eastbourne and Brighton have all been recognised as good places to go on trips with pets.

This was based on research by Howden Insurance which looked at what percentage of properties on Airbnb and Booking.com in towns and cities allowed pets to stay.

Hastings ranked as the third most pet-friendly town in the study, with nearly 41 per cent of Airbnb and Booking.com listings allowing pets.

Eastbourne ranked in fifth place with 39.11 per cent of listed properties being considered pet-friendly.

Brighton also ranked ninth place in the study, with 36 per cent of its 476 properties on these holiday websites listed as pet friendly.

A spokesperson for Howden Insurance said: "Pet owners often face the dilemma of leaving their beloved pets behind when planning vacations, along with the added stress of arranging for pet sitting and considering associated costs.

"These findings shed light on which cities provide the most accommodation options for pet owners looking to bring their furry companions along for their city breaks."

The study found Norwich to be the most pet-friendly place in the UK for getaways overall.
